EFA Women's Champions Cup in Calw

EFA Women's Champions Cup in Calw

The women's Champions Cup in Calw will kick off the fistball year 2022 on Friday evening. Defending champions TSV Dennach and reigning German indoor champions TSV Calw will represent Germany at the European title fights in the Walter-Lindner-Halle in Calw. The goal? That should probably be the final on Saturday for both teams.

Dennach: Duel with newcomer Seekirchen

The current champions from Dennach will face the Austrian title holders Askö Seekirchen in the first semifinal (6:15 p.m.). The team from the province of Salzburg celebrated the championship title last February in the Corona Bubble, after a furious improvement in performance over the course of the tournament. This was reported by the cricket betting sites in India.

The young team, led by Brazilian Sabine Süffert in attack, is entering European territory for the first time and should therefore be able to play freely. The Pink Ladies, who can celebrate their seventh consecutive indoor title in Calw, are a completely different story. "We are fit and diligent, train normally through and also Sonja has rejoined," reported TSV player-coach Anna-Lisa Aldinger between the years on the TSV Calw website.

Pfrommer sat out in the league play last, in which - despite the first defeat of the season on the last match day before Christmas against Unterhaugstett - it went very well. With 18:2 points, Dennach leads the table in the women's 1st Bundesliga South, recently prepared for the Champions Cup with joint units with the Dennach men. "We have analyzed our opponent Askö Seekirchen in the meantime, we are ready," Aldinger looks forward to the semifinal duel.

Calw: Reunion with Diepoldsau

At 8 p.m., host TSV Calw will then take part in the tournament. In their semifinal, the Calw Lionesses will face SVD Diepoldsau - and should go into the duel with good memories. In the bronze medal match in 2020, the TSV secured the medal with a 4:3 victory in the first European Cup participation in the hall.

In preparation for the title matches this year, training was also carried out between the holidays - and exceptionally in the Walter Lindner Hall, in order to adapt even better to the conditions. For Sandra Janot, captain and "veteran" in the Calw squad, the semifinal duel against the Swiss champion is a special one. "I was allowed to train and play with the team during a semester abroad. During this time, I was able to observe how quickly this team developed," she says in an interview on the TSV homepage. She is also alluding to the last four Swiss championship titles, all of which the SVD women have won.

The duo in attack should be interesting: Tanja Bognar, Swiss national player, and Lena Wahl, formerly in the service of TSV Dennach. "The defense is also strong," knows Sandra Janot: "If we can rise above ourselves in some situations and remain consistent, we can make it to the final. It's a 50-50 game."

A lot of responsibility on the side of the hosts will probably rest on the shoulders of attacker Henriette Schell, as her congenial partner in the offense, Steffi Dannecker, was absent due to injury and will probably "not be able to perform at full strength" (Janot) at the Champions Cup.

The Calw women do not want to be influenced by this, the anticipation is too great to be able to compete in front of a home crowd. "I hope for a nice atmosphere - for the spectators and for the teams," says Sandra Janot: "I hope that we can forget these somewhat depressing times for a moment. That we Lionesses get to the final and present ourselves really well."
